Objectives
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of the 40 Hour RBT Training Program, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the Foundations of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• Define the principles and concepts of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
• Identify the role of ABA in supporting individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.
• Recognize the importance of evidence based practices in behavior intervention.
2. Demonstrate Knowledge of the RBT Role
• Describe the responsibilities and scope of practice of a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
• Understand the importance of working under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
• Maintain professional and ethical standards within the field of behavior analysis.
3. Implement Behavior Reduction and Skill Acquisition Procedures
• Accurately implement behavior intervention plans developed by a BCBA.
• Assist with teaching new skills using evidence based instructional procedures.
• Apply reinforcement, prompting, shaping, and other behavior change strategies.
4. Collect and Report Data Effectively
• Record behavioral data accurately and consistently.
• Utilize data collection methods to monitor client progress.
• Communicate observations and data to supervisors in a professional manner.
5. Promote Client Safety and Dignity
• Demonstrate procedures that support client safety and well being.
• Maintain confidentiality and protect client rights.
• Respond appropriately to challenging behaviors while preserving client dignity.
6. Develop Professional Communication Skills
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Follow professional documentation and reporting procedures.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and professionalism in service delivery.
7. Prepare for the RBT Certification Process
• Understand the requirements for RBT certification.
• Successfully complete the 40 Hour Training requirement.
• Prepare for the Initial Competency Assessment and RBT Examination through guided review, mock exams, and study resources.
8. Demonstrate Readiness for Employment in ABA Settings
• Apply foundational ABA knowledge in clinical, school, home, and community settings.
• Complete employer required in service trainings and professional development activities.
• Develop the skills necessary to pursue employment opportunities within ABA agencies and related behavioral health organizations.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will possess the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to begin working under supervision as a Registered Behavior Technician and to continue the certification process with confidence.
This training is based on current BACB® requirements and is designed to support student success in certification preparation, competency assessment, and employment readiness.
