Description
Establishes data collection as a clinical competency rather than an administrative task. Covers core data dimensions, recording methods, interobserver agreement, and strategies to improve accuracy. Expanded content includes selecting appropriate data systems, collecting data in natural environments, and managing compromised or inconsistent data.
Emphasis is placed on using data to guide clinical decisions and improve treatment precision.
Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
-
Explain the purpose of data collection in ABA and describe how BCBAs use session data to make evidence-based treatment decisions
-
Identify and define the six primary data dimensions, frequency, rate, duration, latency, inter-response time, and trial-by-trial response recording
-
Describe the four major data collection methods, frequency recording, duration recording, interval recording, and permanent product recording, and select the most appropriate method for a given behavioral target
-
Distinguish between whole-interval, partial-interval, and momentary time sampling interval approaches and explain the systematic bias each introduces
-
Apply specific strategies for improving data accuracy during busy ABA sessions, including concurrent recording, tool selection, and definition review
-
Identify the most common data collection errors made by RBTs and implement targeted prevention strategies for each
Certificate
By completing/passing this course, you will attain the certificate PDU 7- Data that Drives Decision Making
