Working in Sync: Collaborating with Supervisors

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the purpose and structure of supervision in ABA therapy, and explain why the supervisory relationship is the primary mechanism of RBT clinical development

2. Identify what types of information RBTs are responsible for communicating to their supervising BCBA, and apply an urgency framework to determine when each type of communication should occur

3. Demonstrate the use of objective, behaviorally specific language when reporting client observations, contrasting this standard with subjective or interpretive descriptions that reduce clinical utility

4. Describe strategies for active, engaged participation in supervision meetings, including how to ask effective questions, request modeling, and advocate for the clinical support you need

5. Apply professional communication strategies to three challenging supervisor communication situations, reporting your own implementation errors, expressing procedural uncertainty, and responding constructively to critical feedback

6. Explain the ethical obligation of transparency with supervisors and why honest reporting of errors, concerns, and uncertainties is the professional standard, not an admission of inadequacy
